2007 Employee of the Year - Ted Williams
Ted Williams, student service specialist and counselor, at the Williamson campus of Southern WV community college, was recognized as the 2007 Employee of the Year by President Joanne Jaeger Tomblin. The Employee Recognition Awards were held on May 4th in the Savas-Kostas theatre on the Logan campus. President Tomblin presented Ted with a 'star trophy' and a check for $200.00, compliments of the Southern foundation.
Ted has been an employee at Southern for nearly 26 years. Ted has participated in numerous career fairs and highschool recruiting excursions. Ted was commended for his outstanding job performance, and for his service to students, college, and community.
Ted is also involved with volunteer organizations such as, the American Red Cross and the International Rotary Club. Ted was selected as employee of the year by Southern's Public Relations Committee after reviewing several nominations from all four campuses. Ted's name will be added to an employee recognition plaque which is on display at Southern's district office in Logan, WV.
A note of interest, Ted has also been a tireless leader in the WV Counseling Association for more than 20 years. Congratulations, Ted!
Presidential Award for Education - Dr. Taylor Perry
Dr. Taylor Perry was presented the 'Presidential Award for Education' by the West Virginia State University President at WVSU's annual commencement. The Presidential award was given for Dr. Perry's years of work in education, his leadership in the state counseling association, and his dedication to youth in WV. Dr. Perry is President of the West Virginia Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. Congratulations, Dr. Perry!
ACA lobbyists invited WVCA President, Dan Henderson to Washington, DC to meet with Senator Byrd and Senator Rockefeller's staff.
