Highlights from November 3, 2006 Board Meeting at Flatwoods Days Inn

  • Leigh-Ann Brewer presented a Power Point demonstration concerning WVCA membership benefits and WV counseling. This presentation was accompanied by scenes of WV and stringed Appalachian music.
  • WVCCA and WVCA cosponsored an Ethics conference in May '06 at WVUIT in Montgomery, WV. The seminar was conducted by Rob Gerst. As a thank you, our organizations have purchased a representative piece of Appalachian arts and crafts; a ' Coal Miner ' carved from coal, to be sent with historical documentation.
  • Ted Williams confirmed that a keynote speaker has been contracted for our next ' WVCA ' conference, which will be held Fri 12 Oct and Sat 13 Oct '07. This speaker is American born and world renown.
  • The Southern Region - American Counseling Association conference, was held in Huntsville, Alabama the last week of October '06. Barbara Blackburn, Ted Williams, and Dan Henderson of WV attended. This conference is composed of 14 of our southern states.
  • We would like to thank two of our members for accepting positions of responsibility within our organization. Peggy Lewis has agreed to be the leader of the Retired Members group. Gene Defabio has agreed to take on the responsibility of WV Career Development Association ( WVCDA ).
  • The next WVCA Board Meeting is scheduled for Sat 20 Jan '06 in Beckley, WV at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy at 10:00 am.
