Highlights from January 20, 2007 Board meeting at Beckley
- Treasurer, Mike Fike received additional monies from the Flatwoods conference. Mike regrets being unable to attend.
- A new and detailed brochure about WVCA is in the process of development.
- A thank you gift of a 12 inch carved coal miner will be sent to Rob Gerst for his presentation at the May 06 Spring Ethics Conference.
- 125 WVCA calendars are gone; that is the complete first printing. There is a second printing in progress. The price for each calendar is still just $5.00. They would make a great personal gift. This is a collector’s item.
- WVCCA has scheduled the Spring Ethics conference for Friday, May 18th 2007; more details later.
- WVCA wants to find someone who is willing to be our CEU monitor. If you know someone who has an interest have them contact WVCA at pres@wvcounseling.org
- Ways to involve the WVCA retired / retiring population was discussed.
- Student Representative volunteered and was accepted for the Board. Representative stated that she has already recruited two graduate students.
- WVCDA’s President, Gene Defabio defined the mission and purpose of his organization. He also shared an outline of objectives he will direct the organization in accomplishing.
- Marshall University representative, Dr. Eash, suggested that there be a collaboration between Marshall students and retired counselors for the purpose of mentoring.
- Retired Counselors Representative, Peggy Lewis suggested we reserve a meeting room for retired counselors at the October conference to discuss pertinent issues.
- WVCCA’s President, Ted Williams announced that arrangements for our Fall 07 conference have been finalized. Dr. William Glasser will be keynote speaker and presenter. This conference is scheduled for Oct. 12 –13 (Friday and Saturday) 2007. More details to follow.
